Payment Schedule & Calculation

A detailed look at payout timing as well as fee calculations.

Updated over a week ago

Merchant payouts are made on the 1st and 15th day of the month.

  • Payouts on the 1st include orders from the first half of the previous month. (the 1st to the 15th)

  • Payouts on the 2nd include orders from the second half of the previous month. (the 6th to the last day of the month)

  • Delivery Service Partners ("DSPs") receive payment, handle disputes, and proceed with disbursement to Lula.

  • There is a turnaround time period of ~5-10 days to consolidate all transactions from the DSPs

  • It takes 2-5 days for ACH payments to arrive in your bank account once initiated on the 1st or 15th payout period.

Payment Flow Example

Calculations

For DSP's there is a revenue share model that depends on the type of order received. Here is a table of the most current set of DSP prices for Lula retailers:

UberEats

· Delivery: 20%

· Pickup: 12%

Grubhub

· Delivery: 15%

· Pickup: 0%

DoorDash

· Normal Delivery: 15%

· DashPass Delivery: 25%

· Double Dash (Secondary Orders):

$1.90/order

· Pickup Orders: 12%

DSP's are only aware of the price shown to the customer for purposes of calculating revenue share. So if you markup a $10 product 30% ($10 + $3 = $13) then the DSP will charge their revenue share on the final price of $13.

Example 1:

  • Retail Price: $10.00

  • Mark-up (30%): $3.00

  • Final Price: $13.00

  • Uber Eats Delivery (20%): -$2.60

  • Amount remitted by DSP: $10.40

  • Amount remitted to you by Lula: $10.40

If you are on a plan with Lula that includes a revenue share - for example, 10%- Lula calculates the revenue share on the "retail price", which you submit in our system before markup.

Example 2:

  • Retail Price: $10.00

  • Mark-up (30%): $3.00

  • Final Price: $13.00

  • Uber Eats Delivery (20%): -$2.60

  • Amount remitted by DSP: $10.40

  • Lula Rev Share (10%): $1.00

  • Amount remitted to you by Lula: $9.40

In this case, even though you marked up the product 30%, your final distribution was 6% below retail, because the DSPs calculate revenue share on the final price, which is the only price they see.

NOTE: Taxes are handled differently by state and by DSP. For 3rd Party marketplace orders, Lula follows the policies of each DSP. To learn more about DSP taxes see our help article here: DPS Marketplace Facilitator Law

Regarding Rounding

For the fee %'s above, often the exact calculation results in more than two decimal points, and the DSP's handle this by rounding to the closest two decimal payout number. For example, for an order that equals $15.21 (price to customer), Uber Eats charges 20%. That calculation results in a marketplace fee of $3.0420. The final payout will be $3.04 as Uber Eats rounds to the closes two decimal payout (19.987% vs 20%). For an order that is $23.69, the payout calculation at 20% is $4.738,0 and the final payout is $4.74, resulting in a final calculation % of 20.008% vs the 20% stated.
